Triangle RRG Spring 15 - Cover

A Letter From the Publisher…

The word “retire” is defined as “to leave one’s work place” or “withdraw to or from a particular place.” As the baby boomer generation continues its march into the retirement years, this generation is also redefining what it means to retire. “Withdrawing” is the last thing this generation aims to do. Charging full-steam ahead is a more appropriate description for this brand of “retirement”.

Today’s baby boom generation is embracing a different brand of retirement… a retirement they always dreamed could and should be…a time to enjoy the fruits of one’s labor. For some, that means having the time and money to travel. Exclusive resort get-aways, like Kiawah Island, offer a world-class experience just a few hours drive from the Triangle while some prefer to take their retirement home on the road with them like Grant and Lynn Emrick. For others, staying within the borders of North Carolina offers ample challenges, such as trying to visit each of the over 140 wineries in the state. And yet for others, the excitement might be right at their doorstep as they pursue volunteer opportunities within the community or simply enjoy all the art and cultural offerings that the Triangle has to offer.
