You can age-proof your eyes just by eating good foods like leafy greens which help prevent macular degeneration (AMD).

The secret is two natural pigments called lutein and zeaxanthin, which can fortify your eyes against AMD. In fact, a recent study of 90 people with dry AMD revealed that those who took 10 milligrams of lutein daily had measurably sharper vision by the end of a year.

Although the participants took supplements, you can get 10 mg of lutein from a half cup of greens, spinach, kale, and collards. Other super sources of lutein/zeaxanthin are: eggs, broccoli, green peas, corn, zucchini, romaine, orange bell peppers, and brussels spouts. Harvard Medical research also found that women eating about six mg of lutein and zeaxanthin daily were 18 percent less likely to have cataracts.
