GREENSBORO, N.C. (July 31, 2020) – Friends Homes has broken ground on a $67 million expansion of its two campuses in Greensboro, Friends Homes Guilford and Friends Homes West. The project will offer more amenities and add 140 new residents to the community.

“With this expansion, Friends Homes is making a significant investment in furthering our commitment as a quality provider of senior living,” said Executive Director of Friends Homes Arnie Thompson. “We are excited about this project and the additional options the expansion will offer our residents.”

Construction at Friends Homes Guilford, located on Guilford College Road, began in July. The $10 million expansion on this campus will include the addition of 20 one-story townhomes. Construction is targeted for completion in Spring 2021.

Friends Homes West, located off West Friendly Avenue, will undergo a $57 million expansion with the addition of 54 villa apartments, eight two-bedroom townhomes, and 11 three-bedroom cottages. The project will also add 32,807 square feet to the community’s wellness center. The expanded center will offer more fitness options and a new sports court. Additionally, a bistro eatery with a pizza oven and outdoor dining complete the enhanced community amenities. Construction on this campus is scheduled for completion in 2022.

The new residential accommodations include villa apartments, cottages, and townhomes ranging from 1,400 to 1,900 square feet. All residences feature open floor plans, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and multiple views. Friends Homes has already pre-sold 60% of the new units with new home sales continuing for available floor plans.

Friends Homes Guilford and Friends Homes West serve 630 residents. With the expansion, the two campuses will have the capacity to serve over 770 people.
