A standard moving company moves furniture and belongings. A senior move manager moves you and everything about you, past and present. They care specifically for older adults, their family members and their needs before, during and after a move, handling all of the details, emotional and physical aspects.
It takes special people to patiently deal with extraordinary emotional circumstances daily, and that is what Home to Home does best. We would like to share some of our experiences, showing the qualities, skills and characteristics of a senior move management company.
Compassionate, Soothing
Clients get stressed on the day of their move, especially if they have been in their homes for 30 years or more. Senior move managers try to soothe the client’s emotions. On this day, when everything was packed and ready to go, the client was nowhere to be found. He was located walking his property for the last time, weeping. We all took the time to share in his sorrow and almost cried with him.
When the coffee maker was already packed on the truck and a customer really needed a cup of coffee to get through the stressful moving day, a Home to Home employee quickly went to a local coffee shop for a steaming cup of wake–me-up.
Humble and Motivated
A large curio cabinet was moved from one location to another. The client was concerned the small items would not be re-displayed the same way his late wife had set them up. Hundreds of very delicate glass items were photographed, packed, unpacked and displayed exactly as they were before. It took many hours and steady hands but it was so important to the customer and, therefore, to us.
In the roughest time of winter, with icy roads, in an area known for hazardous conditions, the client, finally packed and ready to go, realized he had dropped his car keys in the snow somewhere. All of the employees dug in the snow in several locations on the property. Found them, cold hands, warm heart, happy client.
Trusted and Resourceful
A client needed to downsize and decided to go out of the country on vacation, and, meanwhile, have us conduct an estate sale including the entire contents of his 3500 square foot house. This was done on a Saturday, his check arrived the following Monday. Done.
Sometimes we refer doctors and other professionals serving seniors to customers and their families new to the area. We have shopped for furniture for people who can’t get around town so easily, have had appliances picked up to be sold, repaired, delivered and disposed of.
Going the Distance
When a move crosses state lines, we bring loved ones together. Being licensed and insured to do this, unlike most senior move management firms, we gladly go the extra mile to assure you will feel at home wherever your new home may be.
