A Week of Joy

The Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu spent a week teaching me about life. What a joy! OK, they didn’t actually come to my house, but they had a week-long conversation that was recorded in a book, The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World, and as a video, Mission: Joy. The Archbishop and the Dalai Lama, in their 80s, talked about seeing life as it is, accepting the highs and the lows, being engaged with other people, and, most importantly, being empathic and supportive of others. Long Term Care Extended Planning “Celebrating Our Summers”

Celebrating our traditions of summer with cookouts, vacations and long nights gives us a joy of grateful fortune, an outlook of success, a bright future, happiness in the days ahead. Many are not able to enjoy these celebrations due to some of the realities of life that are not so pleasurable. We’ve always been told by our elders, not to take life for granted. Awakening Purpose

David Haynes didn’t think cats would be the key that opened the door to new fulfillment, undiscovered talent, and income. The theme was a pet portrait class. "I had never painted until that class," said Haynes. He took the class to give the portrait of their family cats to his wife, Amy, for her birthday. [...]

Scale/Range of Independent Living (Active Adult) Communities

For several decades I have heard key players in the retirement industry, at various association meetings and the like, seek more effective ways to help prospects understand what is being offered at a particular community. I Love Being Grey!

I love my grey hair. I don’t worry about people saying that I look old. Instead, I enjoy the time recovered from hairdresser appointments. The world has told us that getting older is about decline, weakness, modesty, and withdrawal. Nope, getting older is whatever we want it to be, for as long as possible. I Have Choices! Today, seniors make more choices about activities and schedules. I Keep Doing! I know that continuing to be competent means that I continue to be independent, happy, and satisfied. [...]
